Electronic Parking Disc
One device, several names — and why the difference matters when you search.
Disc or clock?
In most of Europe the object is the same: something placed inside the windshield showing when you arrived. What it is called depends on where you are. English-speaking drivers say parking disc or parking clock; Nordic and German-speaking markets each have their own established term. An “electronic parking disc” and an “electronic parking clock” describe the same category of product.
How the electronic version works
Instead of a rotating cardboard dial, an electronic disc holds the arrival time in electronics and renders it on a display. Because the time is stored rather than printed, it can be set automatically, adjusted from a phone or remote, and shown alongside status information such as battery level.
What drivers should check locally
- Whether the parking place uses a disc/clock system at all, or another scheme such as ticket machines or apps.
- Whether local rules specify a particular format or type of disc.
- How arrival time should be rounded, which differs between jurisdictions.
- That private operators may impose separate conditions.
